*Raises eyebrow* Well, its funny what you find when you follow a random link to something you're just curious about. I am the proverbial cat. I think my answer is, well don't bother coming on Saturday, and stay in with Oasis until your brain turns to glue and runs out your ears. I won't care...

Or not, as it seems. Anyway, went down to Midsummer Common on Friday night to help the boys for an hour or so and was made aware that the covers to our EP had only _just_ been printed off today, and that I was the lucky sod who would have to cut them all out. *Grin* actually, apart from staying up until stupid o'clock in the morning cutting them out, it wasn't really such a bad task after all. But next time guys, I'd like them 2 days before, not the night before, K?

Can't really blame them, the poor sweeties (this is Stef and Shaun) worked through the night, the whole of the fair, and most of that night too to make the whole thing happen. Stef I am EXTREMELY proud of you!! Well done for making it all happen... :-)

Anyway, got up early the next day and headed back over to the site to have a quick look at the stalls before I started stewarding. Most of them were still closed that early, which is probably a good thing, since I didn't end up spending too much over the whole weekend, certainly not as much as I'd anticipated. Around midday as I made myslef ready to start selling CDs, I realised there was no float for the stall, so raced up to the bank to get one ready, just arriving there and getting what I needed before closing time. Raced back and set up my meagre amounts from the two bands (one of which was us) who had CDs to sell. Of course it wasn't too long before the other cottoned on to this, and soon we were all doing a roaring trade in CDs from 5 or 6 of the bands, as well as T-shirts, stickers and flyers.

I'd already decided that Saturday would be my long-delayed 21st birthday, with my 22nd to happen on the Sunday. So I knocked off at 2pm and met up with Luce, Mum (who'd showed up earlier) and various others. We proceeded around the site in search of _stuff_ and some cooler clothes as I'd started the morning in something that had quickly turned from appropriate to downright _boiling_ in the June sun. Around 4ish I decided to go home and get changed into one of my wedding dresses (picked the one I wore last year in fitting memorial) and all the rest of my paraphernalia. Got back onsite less than an hour 1/2 later. Go me. By this time nervous didn't even come close to describing how I felt, but I somehow kept it togtether enough to have conversations with the genie (Glen) and the slave girl (Silver - well, she was collecting rubbish for the day... ;-) ) as well as Mum and Luce and all those others who were there (sorry, I remember far less than I should do...!) Finally Rory (yes, that Rory) finished his set, and on we went.

Horrible things began to happen. The sound engineer (don't know what he's been doing but...) suddenly gave up[ and decided he couldn't do his job anymore. Hence the first verse 1/2 of Damaged Goods (first in this set) was heard by me and me alone. However, there was cheering when I came back on, and we soldiered on to the next song. Which happened to be one of the new ones. The one I'd wanted to make an impression with. The one where one of our members froze in stage fright half way through. "The show _must_ go on!!" I screamed as Sarah and I brought everyone back into the last verse and home to the end. Having practiced it 4-5 times on Tuesday I'm hoping it's going to do the job on Saturday. Oh well, there was hardly anyone there that I was hoping would be, and those who were still enjoyed it.

We grew more confident as the set wore on, and I tried to keep the audience amused/informed while the boys swapped instruments. By 4 Quarters we were going for it (people seem to like this song anyway...) and although my voice nearly gave out during Silly Thing (I have to push it unfortunately...) we still pulled it off and roared on to the last song - Mental 12. During which I played bass appallingly, had a great time, laughed at my bum notes and sang opera. Great fun!! Well dones all around for my fantastic band; two members of which had been up for 48 hours or more by this point. And also well done to Erik for being the stage hand and passing stuff.

Came off stage (Stef with tears down his face at 6 months of work that had _finally_ paid off...) and had zillions of people around me all at once, congratulating, commiserating the sound, asking for autographs (yes, really. So I can't be that bad now can I? ;-) ) and generally being lovely, but very confusing. Said a very brief hello-goodbye to James, and hung out with Glen and Luce for most of the rest of the day. Erik went home for a rest, then came back later, we all got a bit lost and confused due to crap reception (is _everyone_ on O2 these days??) and eventually had a good time over the last part of the evening. Erik and I came back to watch episode 4 of The 10th Kingdom, Luce and Dean came back a little later to stay over. And A Good Time Was Had By All. :-)

So that was Saturday...

Sunday we had a laze-in, and Erik made me breakfast in bed. I got my pressies from him. And FINALLY I HAVE A COPY OF LAPUTA!!! Its been *thinks* 14 years since I first saw that movie (my first anime) and I've been hunting for a copy on and off ever since. Now Disney have got around to letting it go I have it. At last. :-) I also got a Mini!! Well, a classic wall-plaque with a racing Mini on it, which is much better than no Mini at all. :-)

We decided to go punting and I (foolishly) changed into clothing suitable for the weather as I walked out the door. This weather unfortunately did not stay suitable, and by the time we found the Rock Soc party, it was raining. Still, we had booze and got us two punts. So nothing was going to stop us!!

I let other people do most of the hard work, although I helped where I could with the paddle supplied. Drank lots, ate far too much dip, and nearly wet myself before Grantchester. And ended up getting nettled too, although not too badly. I'm sure they're worse than they used to be when I was a kid though... :-\ Luce and Dean didn't come as it would have taken them far too long to get home afterwards, but there was plenty of good company to keep my thoughts occupied.

Grantchester is really beautiful, and being on the river again was xquisite, although I would have felt better about it if I'd been better clothed. Thanx go to Tish who leant me her coat, and the cracked Bonzo, who's towel I nicked, even after she'd been swimming!!

Monday was work again, but a rather lovely meal cooked by my darling boyfriend. I feel a little more at ease at work right now, following a weekly review that ended with me sobbing in my manager's office last week. I feel like less is being expected of me, people are kinder and generally things are a little easier to cope with. Its still not ideal but it'll do until my evil plan is hatched... ;-)

The meal...
Spring rolls in sweet chilli and lychee sauce.
Thai tuna patties
fresh thick noodles in a chilli and veg stir fry.

Truly, truly yummy, and enough was left over for lunch the next day too! We also had a bottle of very lovely wine, although no cheeses (we were stuffed by the end anyway...!)

Tuesday
Work
Rehearsal (including a run-through of our entire set and multiple repeats of new songs to get them right.)
The Calling (to distribute flyers mainly...)
I actually quite enjoyed myself at The Calling, and danced like a loon to a lot of songs (including the inevitable NMA track, once again played just as I arrived!) Thanx go very much to Zotz for all his time and effort helping to keep the club going, and for balancing the music whenever and wherever possible. I'm going to miss you lots.
Tired, drunk and irritable by the time I got home, but got some sleep at least, which is probably just as well. Mum sent the cards from her place up to me, and I opened them at lunchtime. Bad move. I've never read such downright manipulative bullshit in my life, and all it was was one sentence. What's the matter, did she leave you? Can you imagine that? Of all the people to fuck me over just because you can't fuck me.
Go to hell. And take your parents with you.
I want a recording done, soon...

And now I'm tired and emotional, and not up to organising anything, and being asked to add stuff to the website when I don't really have enough concrete details to do so and I'm so tired and I can't really talk about being tired when I haven't really put that much effort in at all, and I want a bath but there's no hot water and...

Fuck it. I think I may even watch some TV...
