Ah yes, I remember now! I really have sold out havn't I?! Well, that's going to change ASAP.

Today I tried to go for a bike ride, but completely failed to get my broken pump to work. Damnitt, I want presta valves on _both_ my tyres!! Anyway, gave up after having totally deflated the tube, and got my skates out instead. Right, I thought, I'll go to Billy's and get the to remove the bearings for cleaning. I got into the skates and suddenly I was all there. The feeling was amazing, this is something I taught myself to do because I _wanted_ to do it, and its a skill I have never lost. Cruising along in the sunlight, the wind through my hair I remembered the feeling of power at every stroke, the knowledge that this was something I could do, and do well. Muscles long neglected sprang to life as I glided along and all the moves I thought long forgotten came naturally to me.

Billy's was unfortunately closed (probably a good thing, I was set to spend a lot of money on various kit!) so I headed down to Mill Road for a pump, and back home via Mackays to get a spanner set. Home again, I made friends with the pump and took the wheels off the skates. Poor things are _filthy!_ Unfortunately the 1/2 inch spanner wasn't thin-walled enough to get to my stoppers' bolt, so I'll have to add a proper skate spanner to my list...
Skate spanner
Abec 5 bearings (?)
New wheels? *Evil grin*
New truck rubbers?? (Eek, no such thing as proper rubber ones anymore, and polyurethanes are horrible! However, my old rubber ones are _literally_ disintegrating - its only a matter of time...)

Then I headed out on my bike to explore the towpath along here. I vividly remember going for long cycle rides down the Stort for many years before I moved, so now I wanted to explore the one along the Cam. After some interesting riding trying to _get_ to it, I finally found an entrance and set off, very slowly as I currently have (balding) summer road tyres on my tourer, and they're not really used to going along such rough ground. Anyway, this gave me plenty of opportunity to look at the gorgeous scenery. :-) I got to Baits Bite Lock, and was totally astounded by the method of locking involved, the top gate is reminiscent of a guillotene, with an enormous door suspended from chains above the lock entrance. I got to watch a boat use it, and had a chat to the pilot about the width of the lock. He reckoned it was about 13 ft wide. The possibilities of having a wide-beam are getting... um, slimmer! ;-) Anyway, I headed onward until the path changed sides and I decided to head home, rediscovering a delightful piece of road on the way, and also a back way onto the commons! :-)

I have to get a job somewhere else, I'm just not cut out for what I'm doing, I'm just not that sort of person. And I have to get out of all this before I sell out completely... I know who I am, and who I want to be. So many facets of myself that, brought together, could make such a great whole.

I can't wait! :-)
