Strawberry Fair was good. :-) The weather was gorgeous, the people were lovely and I saw loads of my friends. As usual I was a total scat-monster and couldn't sit still for long enough to really talk to people, but I hope everyone I saw didn't notice too much or take offence!

Bad point of the day - pissed-up chavs on Hela's roof, rocking her from side to side. Boaters called me, the police got them off (one of them saying, 'see, you didn't want to be doing that - she's scary' as I ran up and started on my roaring tigress routine). The cops were actually really good, standing around keeping an eye on Hela for some time after they'd scared off the chavs. I went indoors, calmed Ziggy down and cleared up all the stuff that went on the floor, before heading back out again.

Good points of the day - everything else! I only saw Rome Burns play, was too busy seeing people and just hanging out to watch anyone else. I was startled and a little saddened to hear a band playing on the East Stage while I was on the boat getting changed at one point, that sounded almost exactly like Skelliga. But I can't really say I'm that surprised since Stef and Shauny have quite a lot of say in who plays there...

It was lovely to see Mum in the morning, and she brought me many presents for my birthday. Lucy stayed all day and all night, with her boyfriend showing up in the early hours of Sunday (he'd been in the studio recording all day with his band) in a hired van. I helped him find cigarettes and a place to park before we headed back to the boat to chill out for a bit before bed. We embarrassed ourselves in front of each other (this is the first time he has stayed) - me by somehow managing (by mistake!) to get Ziggy to puncture the airbed during a particularly vicious play session (Ziggy was bored, having been locked in all day), and him (equally by mistake!) by leaving a tap running in the bathroom (luckily I caught it before we ran out of battery/water!)

Erik spent most of the day wandering around getting drunk, smoking and hanging out with his friends, although we did meet up on several occasions. We spent some time together properly at the 'Run just before my shift, then he went to crash out on the boat.

The gate shift was fun, if hard work. I normally stand up by the Green Area gate and help vehicles to leave that way, but this year I was right in the thick of things on the main gate and helping organise the convoys. We had fun doing it, although by the end of the shift most of the other stewards had buggered off back to the tent, leaving about half a dozen of us to let the last few traders out. It's usually more organised than that!

I went through several outfits in the end - big black tutu-like skirt, 'Rocks, patterned tights and red Lippy backless top to begin with, then skull and X-bones bikini top with big baggy black and red combats when it got really hot. This was later topped off with a tricorn, and later still a top I bought onsite earlier, and jacket. There are no photos, sorry! ;-P

This weekend is Download. I am still hideously unprepared - we did spend part of Sunday emptying the van, but Erik and I were so knackered from the day before that we had to give up in the end. Still, not much more to do now. I've dyed my hair already (did it on Friday) - it's 'Cosmic Blue' underneath and 'Cyber Purple' on top for those of you who are interested! Most of the wood that was in the van is now on the boat, but the van needs a good cleanout and to be packed before we go. I bought a porta potti to have in the van this year so that we don't have to deal with the long drops. :-)

The unofficial band times have been released and thankfully not much clashes this year. I might have to spend a bit of time wandering between stages in the middle of some bands' sets on the Friday, but apart from that it's all doable. :-) I'm really looking forward to it, although hoping that we have a bit more of a relaxing time this year than last. I really want to get a bit more involved in the stuff being done at The Village after hours, such as Rock Karaoke on the Friday night!! I'm also hoping to see some friends there that I haven't seen for ages - the Jack's Family crew if they're going to be there again, a mate, Phil, who I met when doing the 'supporting artist' work for Midsummer Murders, and hopefully some of the guys from my new band (who I'll be rehearsing properly with after DL).

I still need to:
Clear out the van.
Pack Stuff (tm).
Set up the van.
Buy food (not going to spend rip-off amounts on crap this year).
Buy a sheet (don't ask!)
Charge my lamp.
Charge my phone.
Buy alcohol.

Getting there!
