Jan. 18th, 2006 11:37 amLast night I dreamt that I accidentally cut off my right index finger while using an electric circular saw. It didn't hurt a bit, but I was still pretty miffed. I tourniquet-ed the stump, put the finger in ice and went to A&E, who took the usual stupid amount of time to do something about it - although they were quite confident that they could get it back on without any trouble.
Then I woke up.
I was rather pleased it had been a dream after all, especially as I'd been getting quite worried about it by this stage, despite being relatively calm to start with in the dream.
I don't understand me sometimes!
Maybe it's a sign I should spend less time on the computer (I type with my index and middle fingers and click the mouse with my right index). Or maybe it's just my head dealing with the thought of someone I know using an angle grinder unaccompanied (;-P) combined with me constantly cutting myself on the newly-broken shower-heat-control-slider-thingy... I didn't last night (I was very cautious!) but I have done so twice in a row, re-opening the first cut (which runs across three fingers, the first of which is my right index) the second time and making it somewhat deeper and more painful. :-\
Apart from that, and being bored at work in between periods of intense activity, I'm still feeling on top of the world. :-) I'm glad I missed the Calling last night for the usual reasons, although dancing to Within Temptation (I didn't think there was any good music played at the Calling anymore!) would have been marvellous, even with the BBC putting their noses in Goth Eucharist mutter mutter mutter...
To satisfy my curiosity about an old CD of STUFF (tm) from my old PC, I put it on my portable CD player the other day. I really didn't expect to be able to hear any of the 97 MP3s that are on it, but I thought I'd give it a go. As it turns out, although some of them don't play, most of them do. I've spent the last three days walking to and from work in a nostalgic daze, listening to stuff I haven't heard for ages, some for as long as it's been since I moved out of my old purple flat. This is mostly Billy Bragg material, and the reason for my not having heard any of it is that I had been convinced (until I heard it) that it would make me cry. Billy's music reminds me a lot of Stef and things that used to be and aren't anymore. However, it didn't make me cry, I grinned instead. This feeling rocks! As does re-discovering my copies of such gems as 'Land of Make-Believe' by Bucks Fizz and various covers of the theme from Neverending Story. Yes, I'm that sad. ;-P
In other news, Foxtrot Uniform's first gig will be 16th March at the Man on the Moon. I've no idea who we're playing with but watch this space. If you want to play with us I'll put a word in for you, just in case Rishi hasn't sorted it yet.
