Goth Music Played in Goth Club Shocker!!

Erik and I were bored yesterday evening. So I decided to take a quick look at NetGoth and find out what was going on in our region. We had two options, an Alternative club in Perterborough, or The Wake which is in Nottingham. The fact that it was supposed to be a Trad night made for a unanimous vote in its favour, despite the distance, so we set off in the van:
Cambridge - A14 - A1 - A606 - A52 - Nottingham.
Finding somewhere to park over 7ft tall turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, and I did get stuck in a couple of situations, but hey, that's what learning to drive a minibus is all about! ;-) We finally found a space in the open air part of the car park at the Victoria Centre, and asked directions of one of the friendly local townies (no really, he was actually quite friendly. And he'd only just noticed Spiders that day for the first time ever - Serendipity or what?!) It wasn't far away so we walked (in Erik's case, hobbled) in the general direction and found that not only were the townie's directions perfect, but we also knew exactly where we were too![1] Bonus. :-)

Anyway, we had a chat with the (extremely friendly and very sweet) doorman about how far we'd come before heading into the venue. The door staff were also wonderful and gave us Free Stuff (tm) as we'd come so far! I was having a great time, loving all this attention already, but when it came to the dancefloor I was to have the shock of my life! First of all, it looks just like someone's living room, its about the smallest dancfloor I've ever seen! but Oh My Gods the MUSIC!! Proper Goth, Trad, Punk. About the newest, most 'in' track they played was the HIM cover of Wicked Game. And Oh how I danced!!

Right, loo break. Oh, hang on, I know that violin. No. It can't be. Oh GODS YES IT IS!! Wavey wavey floaty build up and CRASH BANG STOMP oh gods I've broken it haven't I? Never mind, take 'em off and KEEP FUCKING DANCING Oh Gods I LOVE this SONG!!

Yup, they played Vagabonds. And (for the first time ever I have to say, which I think is actually quite impressive considering) I broke a heel!!

The rest of the night was spent dancing in socks, drinking Cola, Juice and Water and bemoaning to everyone with a twinkle in my eye about the broken boots. I don't care really, I can always re-heel them, or use it as an excuse to get the pair I just recently saw in Barratts... ;-)

And dancing. To Goth music. In a Goth club.

We left just as the last song was playing, had another chat with the doorman, gave him my phone number so he can let us know if anything else groovy is happening (and so he can remind us when the next one is...) and set off home, me limping in my newly broken boots as it had been raining, and Erik hobbling along beside. We must have looked a right pair!!

Kebab, Car Park (£2:50 only!) Lost, Right Direction, Homeward Bound:
Nottingham - A52 - A606 - A1 - (some random little car park to have a piss) - A14 (nearly there, don't fall asleep now!) - Cambridge - Bed.

All in all, a totally incredible night out. I want to live in Nottingham. Actually, no I guess I don't, but I certainly want to go out there more often!!
