I've got nothing specific to say, but I feel like talking, so here it all is...

Erik and I probably won't be making it up to Scotland after all. We wanted to go up to Edinburgh then drive around the Highlands a bit, like I did last time I was there but more so. In order to really acheive this, the bus needs to be in a more finished state, I need to have tested it a bit more for long distance journeys, I need to sort out the heating system (it is currently cactus) and basically we need a camper, not a half-converted minibus. We'll be going down to the Westcountry instead, to see Avebury, Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Cornwall, which I haven't been to since before all the shit happened with my family. I want to go see the Eden Project, which will literally mean driving directly past the entrance to Les's parent's farm. This may be interesting and a little scary, but I'm determined to revisit some of the places around the area I've known since I was a child. I don't see why they should take that experience or those memories away from me.
(I would also just like to mention my surprise that I've had no comeback on the CD I sent them. I only hope that doesn't mean it didn't get to them. Guess I'll find out at Christmas...)

All this does of course mean that we won't be making Whitby after all. Lisa, I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you on your last email, I wanted to finalise plans before I definitely said yay or nay. I'm also very sorry I'll miss you this time around but I hope you'll be visiting us again very soon.

I went searching for materials for the minibus's roof yesterday (had a day off work since I'm owed loads of holiday.) There is (and I'm almost certain of this, sure that I've seen it somewhere...) a type of silver-backed (both sides) padded insulation stuff that is no more than a couple of inches thick. I think it is also flame retardant. Did any of the DIY shops or builder's merchants I visited have a clue what I was on about? No. Not a single one of them in fact. I can't find this stuff _anywhere_. I do have an idea for an alternative solution, but it will mean getting my sewing machine out and fixed or borrowing someone else's, and stitching large quantites of wadding to flame-retardant-spray treated fabric, then sticking (nailing?) the whole lot to thin polystyrene tiling on the very outside, between the roof and the wadding. If, on the other hand, anyone actually knows what the stuff I'm going on about is, I would be very grateful if they could get back to me with info about where I can get a hold of a piece 3m x 2m. Loft insulation is no good - it is sold at a thickness of no less than 10cm, and is _very_ irritant, therefore bad for my skin...
Also, if anyone knows where I can get a piece of foam 4ft x 6ft x 4-5 ins, I would be very happy indeed.

^ I'm hoping the sciency-engineery types can help me find the answer to that one...

The computer is nearly fixed - we had to order more RAM for it, as they've changed the stuff since my computer, so my old RAM doesn't fit in the new motherboard. Erik very kindly got it for me, and has had my old RAM to boost his machine. I will soon be able to make flyers again! Which reminds me - anyone _not_ Whitby-ing is cordially invited to the Man on the Moon in Norfolk Street Cambridge on Halloween for a spooky fun riotous Skelliga gig! We're playing with Rupert's Tartan Scarf (_loads_ of fun!) + Misery (don't know) + some other band I'm not sure about... ;-) Come along, entry fee shouldn't be any more than £4, drinks are fairly reasonable for Cambridge and, well, it should be a really good gig!
It'll also be (since we count it from when we first met) mine and Erik's second anniversary... :-)

We drove to Newmarket (in a roundabout manner) today and stopped in at a pub for lunch. The trees are truly stunning at this time of year, seeming on fire from a distance.
I seem to have gone from restless to tired in a very short space of time. That'll be Autumn kicking in with avengeance then...
