I met Sandy Lerner when I was at school. She came in once to talk to us and be interviewed, and once again because she liked us lots, and to give us two boxes full of Urban Decay make-up. Yep, the lady who helped found Cisco Systems also founded one of the greatest make-up companies on Earth, heralding the end of the mid-90's obsession with boring 'barely-there' pastel make-up shades. She also spent some time talking to me the second time she came, and was very inspiring. :-) Anyway, she was talking to us all the first time about her love for Jane Austen and the derelict house of hers that she had bought. The locals weren't too happy about it at the time, and were expecting anything from a lesbian commune to Disneyland no. 3. Well, they've finally got a totally restored house and museum dedicated not only to Jane Austen, but also many other female literaries such as Mary Wollstonecraft. :-)
