Probably about time the rest of you knew...

On Sunday night Erik (in his infinite drunken wisdom) fell out of a tree. This would be funny except that in doing so he fractured a vertebra and one (maybe both, they're still not sure) of his heels. He's a lot better off than he could have been, there's no nerve damage in his back and injuries incurred in that sort of fall are apparently usually shattering of bone, so he's been very very lucky. However, he is still in hospital (at Addenbrooke's, ward D8) and isn't able to move very much at the moment. He'll probably be in for the best part of next week as well while they run some scans on him, keep an eye on his progress, and work out what to do to allow him maximum mobility when he does get out. They've said he won't need surgery, but he will want a long period of bed rest before he'll be able to move around much again.

Chaz also broke his back last year. His girlfriend teaches Yoga, and taught him many good exercises which have had him lifting, walking and generally behaving as if it never happened in a very short space of time. Looks like we'll probably be learning Yoga together when Erik is well enough.
