May. 8th, 2003 10:39 pmTomorrow I will have a 'three month probation' talk with my area manager. I'm not really sure what to say TBH... :-\ Erik has put some good ideas across, saying that I should tell them essentially it is a good job but that I do still have issues with the whole overtime business. Trouble is, I don't think its 'essentially a good job' it bores me to tears, and the few times I get to go out on the road and really enjoy myself are few and far between. I'm just not cut out for any of this anymore, yet I don't seem to have the motivation to be able to survive self employment...
After my meeting I will have a half day off (thanx Peta! ;-P) and will be going straight to a possible interview in town - at one of the natural medicine shops (can't remember its name...) Here is an interesting place doing something that I enjoy in a fairly laid-back atmosphere. But there are possible glitches (as always...) The manageress who I spoke to on the phone sounded very disinterested and quite batty TBH. I'm not putting up with another one of those... :-\ Still I'll go along and see how it goes.
Then on to Billy's to have the bearings taken out of my skates (sadly not a job I can do, nor dare to do as the bearing casings have been in one place for so long...) If they're salvage-able I shall do so with the help of vodka, a frying pan full of warm olive oil and some lube. ;-) If not I'll get a set of ABEC 5s.
I also intend on getting some soft poly truck rubbers (although I won't be changing them over immediately) and a thin-walled skate spanner (I've lost mine). I will _not_ be buying new wheels, skates, stoppers, trucks or anything else. Not yet anyway...!
I'll also be looking into getting Erik a pair of speed skates, and myself another pair of dance boots. Not the ex-ice skates, cost £250, never fitted me, got thrown out by my Mum's evil shit of a boyfriend type, not this time anyway... Just a nice pair of white boots (hmm, stagewear...?) with white stoppers and (soft) white wheels that I can wear even at rinks like Colchester without being thrown out for having black wheels/stoppers (even if they do look stunning on white boots...) or glass in the wheels (I never did, since I'd spend several hours after outside skating digging it all out with a watch screwdriver but there you go...) These will have to come later for me though, since Erik and I seem to have managed to blag a lift up to Donnington!! Rar HIM, Rar Iron Maiden, Rar Queen Adreena!! ;-)
I'm sure I meant to say more here. Probably about how much I hate washing up, and how much I wish the flat would tidy itself so we can go ahead with kitten-shaped plans without having to deal with the mountains of _stuff_ everywhere.
Hmm, room for it all in a 70ft narrowboat?
I hope so...
